You have the right to request deletion of your ScamAvert account and the personal data associated with it. This page explains what that means, what will be removed, what may be retained for legal or safety reasons, and how to submit your request.
WHAT DELETION REMOVES
When your account is deleted, ScamAvert will permanently remove:
- Your ScamAvert account and login credentials
- Your profile information (name, email address, profile picture)
- Your linked social sign-in connections (Google, Facebook, Apple)
- Your devices and guardian relationships registered in the app
- Your scan history and any personal threat reports associated with your account
- Your subscription and in-app preferences
Deletion is permanent. Once processed, your account and the data listed above cannot be recovered.
WHAT MAY BE RETAINED
Certain records may be retained where required or permitted by applicable law, including for the following purposes:
- Security & fraud prevention — records of fraudulent or abusive activity may be retained to protect other users and prevent re-registration under a new account.
- Billing & financial records — transaction and payment records required for accounting, tax, or regulatory compliance (typically up to 7 years under UK law).
- Legal obligations — any data we are legally required to retain or that forms part of an ongoing legal dispute, complaint, or regulatory inquiry.
- Aggregated & anonymised data — anonymised analytics or threat intelligence that cannot be linked back to you may be retained for service improvement.
Where retention is required, only the minimum data necessary for that purpose will be kept, and it will not be used for marketing or profiling.
PARTIAL DATA REMOVAL (WITHOUT DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT)
You can request removal of specific data without closing your account — for example, your scan history, a specific device, or a linked social login.
Some of these actions are available directly in the app under Account → Settings. For requests not available in-app, email us at support@scamavert.com with details of the specific data you would like removed and we will action it in line with your rights under applicable data protection law.
HOW TO REQUEST ACCOUNT DELETION
To request deletion of your account, contact us using the details below. Please include the email address or username associated with your ScamAvert account so we can locate and verify your identity before processing the request. We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days, in accordance with applicable data protection law.
